Best Security Cameras for Your Home in Jordan (2026): The Complete IMOU Buying Guide
, by Bestways Team, 6 min reading time
Indoor or outdoor, Wi-Fi or PoE, solar or 4G: a clear, practical guide to choosing the right IMOU security camera for your home, shop or farm in Jordan, with recommended models for every need.
Choosing a security camera used to mean a technician, a recorder in a cupboard and a tangle of cables. Today a single smart camera can watch your door, recognise a person, light up the yard in full colour at night and send an alert to your phone in seconds. The hard part is no longer installation; it is choosing the right camera for the right place.
This guide walks you through the five questions that matter, then recommends the right IMOU camera for every situation, from a baby room in Amman to a farm in the Jordan Valley.
1. Indoor or outdoor?
Indoor cameras are compact and usually rotate (pan and tilt) to cover a whole room. Outdoor cameras need a weatherproof body (look for IP66 or IP67), stronger night vision and deterrents such as a siren or warning lights. Never put an indoor camera outside, even under a roof: dust and heat in Jordanian summers will shorten its life.
2. How will it be powered and connected?
- Wi-Fi: the simplest option for homes. Newer IMOU models support Wi-Fi 6 for a more stable connection.
- PoE (Power over Ethernet): one network cable carries both power and data. The most reliable choice for villas, shops and buildings.
- Solar and battery: no power cable at all. Ideal for gates, gardens and fences.
- 4G: works with a SIM card where there is no internet, such as farms, construction sites and chalets.
3. Resolution and field of view
A 3MP (2K) camera is enough for a room. For a yard, a car park or a street-facing entrance, choose 5MP or more so you can zoom into faces and number plates. If you need to watch two directions at once, a dual-lens or multi-lens camera replaces two or three separate cameras.
4. Night vision
Classic infrared gives a black-and-white image. IMOU's full-colour night vision uses a built-in spotlight to show clothes and car colours clearly at night, which is exactly the detail you need when something happens.
5. Smart detection and storage
Basic motion detection sends an alert every time a tree moves. AI human and vehicle detection sends alerts only when they matter. For storage, every IMOU camera records to a microSD card, and you can add an IMOU network video recorder (NVR) to keep all your cameras on one hard drive.
