Solar and 4G Security Cameras in Jordan: How to Protect Farms, Chalets and Remote Sites

, by Bestways Team, 8 min reading time

No power socket and no internet line? Here is how solar and 4G security cameras protect farms, chalets and remote sites in Jordan, and which IMOU model suits each situation.

A farm in the Jordan Valley, a chalet in Ajloun or on the Dead Sea road, a water well, a plot of land or a building site on the edge of town: many of the places Jordanian families most want to keep an eye on have no power socket nearby and no internet line at all. A traditional system with cables and a recorder is simply not practical there. A solar security camera in Jordan solves both problems at once: the sun charges the battery, and a 4G data SIM sends the video and alerts to your phone. This guide explains how these cameras work, what to check before you buy, and which IMOU model suits which kind of site.

How a solar and 4G camera works

Every off-grid camera system comes down to three things:

  • Power: a solar panel charges a large rechargeable battery during the day, and the battery runs the camera day and night. No electrician and no cable from the house.
  • Connection: a 4G LTE data SIM inside the camera connects it to the internet wherever there is mobile coverage. Some IMOU models also connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and switch automatically between the two.
  • Storage: recordings are saved on a microSD card inside the camera, and you watch live video, play back footage and receive alerts in the Imou Life app.

IMOU's solar kits add one more piece: Always-on Video (AOV). When nothing is happening, the camera keeps recording at a low frame rate (one frame every 2 seconds on the AOV PT 5MP kit, one every 3 seconds on the Dual AOV), and it jumps to full-frame recording the moment an event starts. You get a record of the whole day without draining the battery or filling the memory card.

Three common situations, three different setups

1. No electricity and no internet

Typical for farms, orchards, wells, pump rooms and empty land. Here you need a camera that brings its own power and its own connection: the IMOU AOV PT 5MP 4G Solar Kit or the dual-lens IMOU Dual AOV. Both come with a solar panel and a 10,000 mAh battery, and both work on 4G or Wi-Fi.

2. Electricity available, but no internet line

Typical for chalets, farmhouses and site cabins. Mains-powered 4G cameras such as the Cruiser SC 4G, the Cruiser Dual 2C 4G and the Titan Z 4G run on their power adapters and connect with their own SIM. If you plan several cameras in one place, another option is the IMOU HMR300 4G router: one SIM creates a Wi-Fi network for the cameras, your phone and other devices on site.

3. Internet available, but no socket at the spot

Typical for gates, garden walls and the far end of a yard. The IMOU Cell 3C All-in-One has a built-in 3W solar panel and a 5,000 mAh battery, and joins your existing 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It installs in minutes with no wiring at all.

What to check before buying a solar security camera in Jordan

  • Sunlight: the panel needs direct sun for most of the day. In Jordan a panel facing south is usually a good starting point; avoid the shade of trees, walls and water tanks.
  • Mobile signal: stand at the exact mounting spot and check the 4G signal on your phone before drilling. Use an active data SIM, and confirm with your mobile operator that the plan works on the LTE bands listed on the product page (FDD B1/3/5/7/8/20/28, TDD B38/40/41).
  • SIM size: the Dual AOV takes a nano-SIM, and the HMR300 router takes a micro SIM. Check the product page for the model you choose.
  • Weather and heat: the AOV kits are rated to work from -20°C to +50°C, the AOV PT kit and the Cell 3C are IP66, and the Cruiser Dual 2C 4G is IP65.
  • Range at night: night vision reaches up to 25 m on the AOV kits, up to 30 m on the Cruiser SC 4G and Cruiser Dual 2C 4G, and up to 56 m on the Titan Z 4G.
  • Storage: the AOV and 4G models accept microSD cards up to 512GB, and the Cell 3C up to 256GB. An IMOU 128GB microSD card is a sensible choice for a remote site.
  • Deterrence: on an empty farm nobody is there to react, so a siren, red-blue warning lights and two-way talk make a real difference.

Practical installation tips

  • Cover the entry points first: the main gate, the track leading into the farm, the pump room and the area around the water tank.
  • Mount high: out of easy reach, but low enough to see faces clearly.
  • Set detection zones: exclude the public road and moving branches so you only get alerts that matter.
  • Use protection schedules: for example, alerts only at night or only on the days nobody is on site.
  • Keep the panel clean: wipe the dust off the solar panel from time to time so it keeps charging well.
  • Need help? Most of these models can be ordered with installation inside Amman (+15 JOD) or in other governorates (+25 JOD). Cables are charged separately if needed.

Why IMOU for remote sites

  • One app: every camera is managed in Imou Life on iOS and Android.
  • AOV technology: a 24/7 record on solar power without emptying the battery.
  • Smart detection: AI human detection, and human and vehicle detection on several models, for fewer false alerts.
  • Active deterrence: sirens, red-blue lights, spotlights and two-way talk on most outdoor models.

Frequently asked questions

Does a solar camera keep working at night and on cloudy days?

Yes. The panel charges the battery during the day, and the battery powers the camera at night. The AOV kits use a 10,000 mAh battery and can also be charged with a DC 5V 2A adapter. The Cell 3C is rated for up to 120 days per charge, depending on use.

Is a SIM card included?

No. You need an active data SIM from your mobile operator. Make sure your plan supports the LTE bands listed on the product page.

Do IMOU cameras need a monthly subscription?

No. Live view, alerts and recording to microSD work without a subscription; cloud storage is optional. The only running cost for a 4G camera is your mobile data plan.

Can I connect a 4G camera to a recorder later?

Yes. The Cruiser SC 4G, Cruiser Dual 2C 4G and Titan Z 4G support NVR storage and ONVIF, so they can join a larger system.

Will the camera cope with summer in Jordan?

The AOV kits and the Cell 3C are rated to operate up to +50°C, and the mains-powered 4G models from -30°C to +50°C.
